| The most recent intervention carried out in the House aimed only at improving its confort standards and allowing connection to the adjoining building. Except for the Torreão, wich consists mainly in a room with a superb view over the vineyards and the games room at the same level of the cellars, all the premisses are located on the groundfloor. All the furniture and furnishings date back from the 19th century, with special highlight to the dining-room. The cellars, where the House's Fine Wine matures and the olive oil from the previous year rests, are located, as usual, in the basement. The 10mx5m swimming-pool is 30m away from the House, amidst a carefully preserved garden and a centenary pine tree (thence the name of the House: Pinheiro - "Pine Tree"), that provides a fresh shade during the hot summer. A private parking set within the Estate allows easy access to the vehicles. The guests acommodations include 2 double bedrooms with bathroom, 2 twin rooms with private bathroom, 1 double room with adjoining living room and private bathroom (air-conditioning), TV room, games room (billiards and cards), lounge - dining room, swimming-pool - gardens, possibility to participate in the farming activities of the Estate. Central heating, telephone in rooms, TV set in rooms (if requested), meals (dinner) provided if previously requested. |
| It took 12 years to build and it has reached Barca de Alva, passing through 60 bridges and 50 tunnels. Today, the Douro line is shorter but it maintains the beauty of the past. It takes four hours from Porto to Pocinho without bore, in a trip through the most beautiful train stations of the path. Extinct the traditional rabelo boats, the river activities have turned to leisure. Between Porto and Barca de Alva, in the border with Spain, the multiple options include one day and/or a week cruises. |
